Ticket sale for the next EXIT Festival taking place between July 9th and 12th 2009 in Novi Sad starts on Friday, December 5th at 12. To remind the readers, the first EXIT Festival took place in 2000 in a park near the Faculty of Philosophy and lasted even ten days. There were 34 big concerts where the most famous domestic bands played, as well as 12 theatre plays, over 120 films, 40 big parties, 11 performances… The first festival ended with a party three days before the presidential elections when Slobodan Milosevic was dethroned.

The following year 2001, the EXIT was held for the first time at the Petrovaradin Fortress and lasted ten days, hosting foreign performers.

“Dance Arena” was for the first time presented at the EXIT 2002 and became one of the festival trademarks. In 2003 the EXIT lasted for four days and stayed such until today. In the last ten years, EXIT became one of the greatest Serbian brands recognizable in Europe and last year it was proclaimed to be the best European festival.

It is impossible to enumerate all the musicians who have played at the Fortress so far and we will remember each festival for a couple of unforgettable performances. Rony Size for the first time performed in Novi Sad in 2001 and in the following year, apart from him, the greatest festival stars of EXIT 02 were “Asian Dub Foundation”, “Transglobal Underground”, Darren Emerson, David Morales, LTJ Bukem... The festival in 2003 was marked with phenomenal performances of “Stereo MC’s”, “Tricky”, “Moloko”...

Stars of the EXIT 2004 were Iggy Pop, “Massive Attack”, “Brand New Heavies”, Roger Sanchez... while the concert considered as one of the best in the festival history was of the band “Cypress Hill” who literally shook the Fortress.

Stars of the EXIT 2005 were “White Stripes”, “Garbage”, “Underworld”, Ian Brown, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim and the most pleasant surprise of the festival- the Finnish band “Apocalyptica” which delighted the audience from the Main Stage. The following year we enjoyed the concerts of “Franz Ferdinand”, “The Cult”, Derrick May, Jeff Miles, while the hero of the audience was Billy Idol.

“Beastie Boys”, Snoop Dog, Lauryn Hill, “Wu-Tang Clan”, Robert Plant, “The Prodigy” performed at EXIT 07, while this year’s festival was marked by the fantastic performance of Manu Chao, the band “Ministry”, Paul Weller, “Sex Pistols”, “Gogol Bordello”, Sven Vath, ...
