Serbia will for the first time play in the competition's quarterfinals, with Novak Đoković's 3-2 victory over John Isner at the Belgrade Arena venue this Sunday securing the historic success.
In the previous two days, Serbia's Viktor Troicki also beat Isner, while Đoković brought another point to Serbia with his victory over Sam Quarry.
America's only win in the tie thus far came with the triumph of Bob Bryan and John Isner over Serbia's Janko Tipsarević and Nenad Zimonjić in the doubles.
The remaining match between Viktor Troicki and Sam Quarry will be played this afternoon.
Serbia will next face Croatia as the team battles for a spot in the Davis Cup semifinals.
